Every manufacturer has a unique approach to building lighting units. Each chooses to favor certain aspects over others: low power use, maximum brightness, beam control, ruggedness, weight, color accuracy, weatherproof, price. Depending on your needs, Abel has the lighting gear that’s most appropriate.
What’s so special about the products from each of our manufacturers?
Kino Flo
Fluorescent lights output the most lumens per watt of any light source, making them the most efficient lighting technology. They are also a naturally soft semi-directional light source. Kino Flo is the industry leader in fluorescents. Abel features their Diva and Barfly lights, which are self-contained portable lighting units that are quick to set up.
ARRI
ARRI is a large manufacturer of many types of lights. Their light kits use classical tungsten fixtures for a variety of traditional lighting configurations. ARRI lights are notable for their rugged design and low weight. Abel features a few different tungsten light kits with lensed and open-faced lights, plus large diffusers for many configurations.
Dedolights
Dedolights are renown for their unique lensing design. The patented Dedo dual-condenser design is not only incredibly efficient and bright, but also offers unparalleled control over the beam of light. Abel chose specific lighting products configured to be used both as special featured “trick” lights in large lighting setups, as well as complete interview lighting kits on their own.
Litepanels
LED lighting is the new frontier in lighting technology, and Litepanels is the industry leader. LED lights are low in power consumption, heat output and size. Litepanels offer numerous versions of their 1×1 fixtures, in daylight or tungsten (or daylight/tungsten), spot or flood.
Bron Kobold
HMI lighting is the brightest daylight-balanced technology for the smallest size. Bron Kobold makes small, rugged fixtures that are also weather-resistant, so they can be used outdoors under any conditions.
Lowel
Lowel lights are designed to be small in size, high in output and low in cost. Their simple designs are rugged and versatile. Abel has several kits that are all small packages yet put out a big punch of light without breaking the wallet.
Rosco
Long-known as a manufacturer of gels and other items that shape and alter light, Rosco now makes a line of LED lights as well. LitePads are LED lights embedded around the edge of a thin (8mm) plate, creating a soft surface of light that is so small and low in weight that it can be taped into place. This unique solution can be used in all sorts of ways and is a great “trick” light that is so small it can be tucked away in every DP’s kit.
