Announcing the NULL Target Collimation Accessory
Wednesday, 29 July 2009 18:41
The NULL Lens is the centerpiece of a family of optical products for Digital Cinema. Several new items and accessories will be added to the product line in the coming months. The first to be released will be the NULL Target.
The NULL Lens is a perfect tool when you are outside and can point at a distant building or tree line. Anything over 150′ (50m) and you can set focus accurately to 5 microns. In some situations, however, such as setting up in a van at night, this can be difficult. That’s where the NULL Target comes in. It contains a backlit Siemen’s Star, a focusing target that makes it easy and accurate to judge focus. Optics in the NULL Target make the Siemen’s Star come into clear focus at infinity. The NULL Target screws into the NULL Lens, and then that device is used to set back focus as usual – only now you don’t have to worry about pointing the camera, because everything is built into the NULL assembly. The product rendering (at right) shows the NULL Target mounted on the NULL Lens.
The whole unit is small, lightweight, internally powered, reliably accurate and easy to use. Still in the prototype stage, the price and release date have not yet been set for the NULL Target, however, we are committed to keeping the price as low as possible and delivering as soon as we can. Abel Cine Tech is not taking deposits or reservations for the NULL Target at this time.
