Arri MMB-1 Mattebox and Follow Focus Kit

Abel worked directly with Arri to develop this high quality accessory package, which includes a newly designed mattebox, follow focus and support base. The MMB-1 mattebox holds two 4×5.65 filters, with the rear stage rotating. The MMB-1 can mount on front rods or clamp directly to the EX3 lens. Arri’s MFF-1 follow focus is extremely compact with a unique, adjustable design. It can be positioned at various angles, which can be helpful in hard to reach places or in handheld use. A clamp-on geared ring is included to mount to the EX3 lens. The MBP-1 is a universal baseplate with 9″ 15mm lightweight support rods that are adjustable in all directions. These accessories are available separately or in a convenient kit.

Anton Bauer QR-EX3 Battery Adapter

You can always use more battery power, especially when adding electronic accessories to a camera. The QR-EX3 mounts in place of the standard Sony battery and allows the use of industry-standard Anton Bauer batteries, such as the Dionic 90 and Hytron 140. The QR-EX3 offers a P-Tap port for powering camera accessories, such as an onboard monitor, wireless microphone receiver or wireless video transmitter. It also accepts standard Anton Bauer mounting plates for mounting these accessories. The QR-EX3 mounts solidly to the EX3, but it can also be removed in a second with no tools required.

Fujinon 2/3″ Lens Adapter

The EX3 is equipped with an amazing 1920×1080 full raster sensor and an interchangeable lens design. To expand further your optical options, Fujinon designed a clever adapter that goes directly from the EX3′s proprietary 1/2″ mount to an industry standard B4 lens mount for 2/3″ optics. This allows the use of the finest and most popular lenses available today, including zooms and primes from manufacturers such as Angenieux, Canon, Fujinon, Nikon and Zeiss. The Fujinon ACM-21 has a Hirose-12 pin jack to plug in the lens servo from ENG zooms. This allows for complete communication between the camera and the lens, including start/stop from the lens, zoom motor power, and iris control from the camera.

Please note that the EX3′s 1/2″ sensor will only look at the center portion of the lens, creating a tighter field of view than if the same optics were mounted to a 2/3″ camera. To determine the relative difference in field of view, multiply the focal length by 1.375 (i.e., a 24mm lens on a 2/3″ camera will appear to be the equivalent of a 33mm lens when mounted on the EX3).
